Five Ways a WAHM Can Unwind
Amidst the meal-making, doctors’ appointments, errands and telephone calls, the one thing that moms often forget to make time for is themselves. This holds especially true for the WAHM, as she’s not only juggling the duties of homemaker and mother, but she’s knee-deep in business responsibilities, as well. She’s juggling two roles at one time. She is the ultimate multi-tasker.
Moms who work from the home really need to periodically take time out from the daily grind. That “me time” is just so invaluable. It’s impossible to successfully manage family and work responsibilities if time isn’t taken to recharge the mind, body and spirit. Here are some ideas for how a work-at-home mom can find time to herself and perhaps relax a bit, too.
Exercise is a fabulous way to relieve stress and unwind after a long day. Whether it’s jogging, swimming, walking, playing a sport or taking a workout class, exercise clears the body of toxins while sweating and helps clear the mind. The time spent exercising can be time for the brain to find a sense of clarity and focus, as well as peace.
Every working mom deserves to be pampered. She can treat herself to something special by scheduling a spa service such as a pedicure, manicure or massage. Many spas use aromatherapy and offer herbal teas to help their clients relax.
Girls’ Night Out
Every WAHM needs to occasionally gather up her closest girlfriends and head out for a night on the town. Sip drinks at a club, see a movie, have dinner at a posh new eatery or keep it low-key and grab dessert and coffee. The bottom line is to spend time with friends and to momentarily forget about being a mom and business woman.
Devoting time to a worthy cause is unbelievably rewarding. Volunteer opportunities such as serving a meal at a homeless shelter, spending time with the elderly or even sorting inventory at a food bank benefit all parties involved. The organizations get the valuable manpower they need and a WAHM has a way of giving back to the community.
Some neighborhoods have clubs such as gardening or book clubs. A great way to get involved in an extracurricular activity is to consider joining or starting a club of this nature. A bonus of a neighborhood club is that it allows for a way to get to know neighbors, which can also become potential business contacts and clientele.
