Ways for Mom to Relax
1. A warm bath – Sometimes the only place in your house that you can lock the door is the bathroom. Let the kids visit a friend or get your spouse to keep an eye on them and take a long relaxing bath. Fill the room with scented bubbles or candles, get in a nice warm tub and just wind down. If you want you can play some relaxing classical music to enhance the experience. Just let your muscles unwind in the warmth and let go of all your stress.
2. A long walk – If you are full of nervous energy but know you need to wind down why not go for a long walk? Not only does walking help you work off the energy it also helps you feel like you are not wasting your time. After all, you are working out! However you should take it easy and use the time to look at the scenery. Pick a walking spot with lots of trees and grass and enjoy the sounds and smells of nature. Stop to smell the roses, listen to the leaves blow in the wind, and look at the clouds in the blue sky. Reconnecting with nature is a great way to feel relaxed in no time.
3. A good book – Sometimes you just need a break from your own mind. The thoughts that are constantly worrying you and griping that you have not accomplished enough today can stress you out. Silence them by getting lost in a good book. Take an hour or so to curl up in your favorite comfy chair with a cup of hot tea and a good book. A new mystery or an old favorite can whisk you away to another world and give you a break for reality for a short while.
There are many ways to relax. The point is to get a break from the daily stress and regain your mental balance. Think about what you love and find a way to relax that works for you.
