Why Real Estate Is a Great Field for Work at Home Moms
If your New Year’s Resolution is to get back into the work force while still being a work-at-home-mom, you might be wondering if that is an unrealistic wish. It’s not. The truth of the matter is that thanks to technology, there are many professions that you can do even as you’re tending to the needs of your children.
One of them would be real estate. If you’ve never really considered it and you’re wondering why it’s such a great idea for moms who desire to work from home, we have five good reasons right here:
Moms are patient. If you think that your child’s emotions can run all over the place, you haven’t seen anything until you take on a client who is excited about a home that they’re not sure they can afford or a family who is waiting to close on a house. Moms are an expert at keeping calm when everyone else is not and so that’s just one good reason why a career in real estate is worth considering.
Moms are detail-oriented. You have to get your spouse and kids off to school, run errands, tend to your best friend’s crisis, make cookies by tomorrow and wash the dog all before everyone gets back home. And somehow, you manage to do all of that and still have dinner on the table. This makes you a highly detailed-oriented person and that’s a good thing because people in real estate have to remember names, deadlines, to fill out forms, contracts and documents and also make sure that they catch any errors (especially ones that deal with numbers).
Moms are always learning something new. Aside from the fact that real estate is a highly-competitive market, it’s also one that is ever-changing. This means that you have to be willing to do a lot of reading and research. The benefit for you as a mom is that as your children grow, you are always coming up with ways to help them to develop and that oftentimes requires a lot of reading and research as well. So, the preparation demands are not really anything new (more, but not new).
Moms are aware of the time. There is absolutely no way that you can be good at being a work-at-home-mom if you don’t know how to manage your time wisely. This is also a good thing because whether it’s Tanglewood real estate or a real estate company that is closer to your home, you are going to have to be able to divide your days (and sometimes even your hours) into different segments so that you can speak with potential clients, advertise your business, check out the market and actually do showings.
Moms are optimists. One reason why so many people are attracted to the real estate industry is because it has the potential to be quite lucrative (six figures, to be exact). Of course, this all depends on how successful your property closings go, but this is just one more reason why moms would be great at it. Each day, you are your children’s cheerleader through bumps, bruises…bad grades and disappointments. If you can make your child smile even when they are absolutely miserable, you can definitely be persistent and positive enough to sell a home while having some pretty good money to show for it.
