Plagiarism/Copying Will Not Be Tolerated!

by Rondi on August 16, 2010

Seems like it was just yesterday when I read a post on a fellow bloggers blog, which reported someone had plagiarized an entire page word for word from her blog.  Well, while I was searching my blog’s name today, I came across a blog very similar to mine.  At first, I could not believe it because is was so similar to my site but after reviewing the entire blog- I found that the person has the same title as my site and she also copied one of my post (that I posted on July 26, 2010) and posted it to her blog on August 5, 2010.  This is stealing and stealing is wrong!  I have contacted the person by e-mail and if she does not remove her site-I will seek what is needed to take action!  I am aware of her first name, which is Brittany as well as her last name.  I have been blogging on my site since December 2008, and I refuse to allow someone to come along and duplicate it as their own ideas.  This will be reported as it will not be tolerated!  So if anyone has noticed a site that was just created in August 2010, that is VERY similar to my site and also includes one of my post- this is the blog that is copying from my site.

*Update* She has removed the post she copied so I guess she got my e-mail.  She still continues to use the ideas I created for my site as her own.

It sucks when someone does that, however it is the most sincere form of flattery. Several websites use my stuff and I’m fine with that as long as they credit me.
Doing it without crediting the original author is just plain wrong.

That’s super awful! I encountered this type of ppl before in my old blog (blogger).

First-she used the same blog templates I’m using. Fine, I got it free from one of those website so I can’t complain. Then I start seeing similar post topics at her blog. It gets real confusing when she’s also commenting on mine and being polite, I always make it a point to reply to my commenter as well. So imagine, going to her blog and seeing a similar topic and few times I got real confused as I’m not sure whether I’m on her blog or mine. There are other stuff as well, like widgets and tools I add in (searched for it for a long time) and she just easily copy and add it to her blog.

I got really angry and wrote a few posts about being stalked and that as if someone is blogging, they should do it with integrity. That stopped her – for a while.

Now that I’ve switched to my own domain self hosted website, I designed EVERYTHING myself. She is still following my blog though.. sigh… yes plagiarism is the highest form of flattery but it sucks when they get complimented and they don’t credit you for it. And I hate the fact that they don’t use effort to search and look up things on their own!

Sorry for the long ramble, btw.

@ I’m a full-time mummy- I agree…why can’t they use their own ideas and search and look up things on their own? When I first came upon her site, I was getting confused as well, I thought it was my site and something was wrong. She has since changed a lot of her wording that was similar to mine and removed my post.

I can’t understand how some people DON’T THINK! I just blogged a new tool to aid in stopping these lazy, rude thieves. It’s free and just may add a bit of protection for you.
