When I think of organization, I usually consider big boxes and huge file cabinets. Maybe, on a good day, I picture a pretty, spacious closet. But there are easy and simple ways to keep your home organized without spending any money at all. Organization is very important to keep a home business running smoothly, so check out these tips:

  1. Keep wrapping paper neat – I love to save wrapping paper. I have so much Christmas wrap that it is not even funny. What I hate, however, is when it unravels. I have tried various methods to keep it neat and wrinkle free, but nothing seemed to work before I found this trick. Just take an empty toilet paper tube and slice open one side. Slide it around the wrapping paper and it will hold it neatly in place. No muss, no fuss, and no ripped up paper later.
  2. Safe cleaning supplies – Keeping the cleaning supplies both in order and away from the kids seemed like an impossible dream. I though hiding them on a top shelf or locking them up were my only choices. Now, however, I use a hanging shoe rack to keep my cleaning supplies away from the kids but easy to access.
  3. Recognize keys – I am always getting my keys mixed up. Is that the one to the front door or the back? The mailbox or the filing cabinet? Make sure you can easily see which key is which by painting them with nail polish. Choose bright, different colors and get working. They dry fast and last a long time.
  4. Get more closet space – I have bought countless space savers for my closet, but this one has to be the cheapest and easiest one ever. Just use the tabs off of soda cans to double your hanging space. Hang one end over the neck of the hanger and then hook a second hanger in the other hole. Voila, double the space for no money at all.

These ideas are so simple, I am surprised I never thought of them myself. Try them out in your home and see if you can’t make your life a little easier with almost no effort at all.
